I’ve finally managed to make a selection of images from my recent photo tour to Burma. After an outstanding tour in 2012 with the Burma dream team (most of whom are coming to China with me in 2014) I didn’t think the 2013 could possibly be as good. Well I was wrong. It was every bit as good. The work rate of the group was extraordinary with some participants (you know who you are) never stopping for a break. I’ll post the images on Facebook and in the galleries section on this site.
Burma is an exceptional photo destination and all the contacts I had made on previous tours to the country really did a great job in helping us get the best shots possible. We caught the very end of the rainy season, which usually finishes in September but was late this year. It didn’t actually rain but we had some wonderful skies, which added to the drama, particularly on Inle Lake and at Mandalay.
I’m not returning to Burma in 2014 because I think there are too many tourists at the main sites now. I would love to return however, and am planning a tour to “Secret Burma” which will take us off the beaten track to remote hill tribes and the ancient capital of Mrauk U. I’ll keep you posted.
I’m taking a break at home now to catch up with admin and have some family time. Next year I have a stand at the Telegraph Outdoor Adventure & Travel show at the London Excel from 13-16 February. Please come and say hello if you’re in the area. Tours start again at the end of February with the Venice Carnival and continue with a 3 week tour of Yunnan, China. This tour filled up very quickly as did the 2015 tour.
I wish you all a very happy Christmas and New Year. thanks to everyone that travelled with me this year and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
