Spring workshop in the Dordogne.
Another successful photo workshop in the Dordogne comes to an end. May is a lovely time to be here in South-West France. The villages are at their best, full of beautiful flowers that fill the air with fragrance. Doorways are adorned by roses that are at their prime, honey suckle is on every corner and the fields are green after the spring rain.
The Dordogne river is only 10 minutes from your base at our home at Fleuret, Curemonte. You stay in our 17th century house, once a manor house attached to the Kingdom of Turenne. We visit many of the plus beaux villages such as Collonges-La-Rouge, Carennac, Autoire, Turenne….. Early morning mist often awaits us at dawn and makes for spectacular photographs.
This is a great workshop for advanced photographers as well as beginners. It’s a great opportunity to learn new skills or fine tune your camera craft in a relaxed atmosphere. We concentrate on skills like understanding depth of field, exposure, camera settings and how to work with a tripod. We shoot mainly handheld during the day but always use a tripod when the light is low such as at dawn or dusk. We experiment with long exposures at the river or a nearby waterfall and try using different filters like polarizers, graduated filters and Neutral Density filters. Lee filters have kindly given me some filters which I’m happy to lend to participants.
