Tuscany in the autumn.
Sometimes perseverance pays off. During my last visit a few years ago, I didn’t have any luck with the light and no misty mornings. It was frustrating but that’s the game.
This time all the elements came together and my patience was rewarded. I went to a good viewpoint the first morning of my stay but the fog was to thick. The second morning revealed a glorious sunrise and a nice silhouette of the Belvedere but the rest of the valley was obscured. The third morning was overcast. Finally, the fourth morning was perfect. It was magnificent, almost like a dream.
I loved my time in the Val d’Orcia so much that I’ll be running workshops there in the autumn and spring. The sense of space is wonderful. The food and wine is delicious but most importantly the photo opportunities are endless. It has been photographed by many people but it’s never the same is it?
