Icelandic Horses photo workshop

10-14 June 2019

The Icelandic horse is unique. Known as “the most needed servant”, the Icelandic horse is small is stature, about the size of a pony, but is tough and resilient, shaped by the harsh Icelandic climate. It has many different coat colours and even develops a double coat in the winter. With beautiful manes and colourful coats, Icelandic horses are extremely photogenic.

We’ll stay for 4 nights in a lovely hotel set in a colourful fishing village in Northern Iceland.  We’ll spend 3 full days exclusively photographing the horses in different locations near to a horse farm. The surrounding landscape, fjords and black sand beaches offer stunning backdrops for equine photography.

Exclusive access to a herd of horses will provide us with endless opportunities to create compelling, fine art images of these majestic creatures. We’ll work on creative use of composition, depth-of-field and shutter speed. A post-processing session will be possible (if we have time) to discuss creative cropping, black & white vs colour and editing your images. Constructive critique can be very useful in building a strong portfolio. And what better subjects than Icelandic horses!
