Morocco Photo tour – Desert & coast

21st November – 1st December 2016 11 Days

A journey from the Sahara desert to the Atlantic coast of Southern Morocco.

Highlights: 4-wheel drive in the Sahara, Ait Ben Haddou, caravan of camels, “glamping” under the stars, Essaouira, Marrakech

Some countries seem to have been designed for photographers. Morocco is certainly one of them.

Our journey takes from the exotic city of Marrakech, the earth clad kasbahs of Ait Ben Haddhou, a location for numerous films, the Sahara desert and the unbelievably photogenic town of Essaouira on the Atlantic coast.

4-wheels drives will take us into the Chagaga dunes, (up to 300m in altitude) to experience the silence and space of the desert. We will photograph night skies full of stars, a caravan of camels on the crest of huge sand dunes, performing bedouins and the ever-changing patterns formed by the shifting sands.

A major highlight is Essaouira, a former pirate’s hideout, full of colour and architectural gems. 2 fortresses look out over the ocean as the waves crash remorselessly onto the rocky coastline. Thousands of seagulls fill the sky hovering above the morning catch, cats lounge around between pretty blue fishing boats – the photographic possibilities are endless and I’m sure you won’t want to leave this extraordinary place.

Our final night will be spent photographing the lively market of Djemaa el-Fna in the heart of the medina in Marrakech. The great open square is full of energy with entertainers, snake charmers and food stalls. A fitting way to end a true North African adventure.
