Mont St Michel Photo Workshop
17-20 March 2018 3 Nights
Mont St Michel during the Spring high tide is spectacular. The estuary has the highest tides in Europe and the water can move as fast as a galloping horse! We will spend our time photographing the Mount from every conceivable angle and make the most of the high water.
At low tide, the water surrounding the mount is calm and shallow which is perfect for reflections. At high tide, water floods the surrounding marshes and fills channels and ditches. At first light, large herds of sheep are released into the fields and provide an ideal foreground. Our accommodation is perfectly located opposite the mount, which means no time is lost travelling to and from the site.
We will also visit nearby the St. Malo, a beautiful walled town which can look dramatic at high tide when the sea is stormy. At low tide, the sea reveals pretty golden sand beaches which give access to rocky islands, home to chapels and lighthouses.
For those of you with a taste for adventure, we’ve organised an optional Ultra-Light flight which will coincide with the high tide when the Mount is cut off from the mainland and becomes an island. The flight lasts half an hour and offers stunning views of the estuary. As one participant said at the end of the flight “I wouldn’t have missed it for the world”.
