Tuscany Spring Photo Tour
24-30 April 2019
South of Siena lies the Orcia valley where we will be based in a beautiful hotel for 6 nights. In the Spring, the valley is covered in fresh, green grass, fields of wheat and meadows of wild flowers The valleys often fill with mist in the morning creating magical, ethereal scenes. The rows of cypress trees and old stone houses that sit on top of the hills look magnificent in the soft, golden light.
We’ll photograph the exquisite architecture of Pienza, Montepulciano and San Quirco as well as the vineyards of Montalcino and San’Antimo. A short drive to the North is Siena, famous for it’s exceptional medieval architecture and soaring towers.
We’ll shoot the landscape at sunrise and sunset to make the most of the best light and after a fulfilling day of photography, we’ll enjoy the delicious local food and wine. Cooking courses and wine tasting can be organised for anyone who is interested.
Tuscany in the spring is a wonderful place to develop your skills in landscape photography. I’ll advise you on how to use graduated filters and a polarising filter to best effect as well as when to use multiple exposure. Composition is key for good landscape photography. We will work with a tripod whenever possible and will experiment with different focal lengths, depth-of-field, shutter speed and other techniques to create compelling landscape images that make the most of the available light.
