Botswana wildlife photography Safari
November 9th-20th 2020 – 11 nights
This trip commences in Maun, the gateway to Botswana’s spectacular Okavango Delta. From Maun we embark on a nine-night mobile camping safari, taking us through Moremi Game Reserve, Khwai Concession and Chobe National Park, three of northern Botswana’s foremost wildlife reserves. Our stay concludes with a boat trip on the wildlife-rich Chobe River and a night in a comfortable lodge, before we fly back to the UK the following day.
The unspoilt wilderness of Botswana is one of Africa’s greatest safari destinations. The population is tiny: just over two million people inhabit this beautiful land that is the size of France and Germany combined, leaving much in the hands of nature. Within its huge game reserves and national parks, the largest herds in southern Africa roam free and superb birdlife abounds.
The land-locked country straddles the Tropic of Capricorn, presenting startlingly contrasting landscapes. The majority is comprised of the arid Kalahari Desert, yet the world’s largest inland delta – the Okavango – transforms an area of 15,000 square kilometres into a paradise of papyrus, palms and crystal-clear waterways. The water that feeds it is Botswana’s lifeblood, and both wildlife and birdlife flock to this spectacular oasis. From desert to delta, each ecosystem has its own unique fauna and flora.
Our open-sided jeeps are perfectly adapted for wildlife photography. We’ll be at the same level as the animals which is the perfect perspective for good composition and beautiful portraits. Coupled with good camera craft such as appropriate ISO, shutter speed and depth-of-field, we’ll make the most of the early morning and evening light to create compelling wildlife images.
