 Georgia in the autumn - 9 days all inclusive photo tour

Tiblisi - Kutaisi - Mestia - Batumi - Kazbeki - Tiblisi

A 9 day journey through this enchanting country with its stunning architecture, breathtaking mountain scenery and friendly people.   

OCTOBER 21, TBILISI:

Airport transfer to the hotel. We will stay in the old Tbilisi, a fascinating neighbourhood that will take you on a journey through history from the earliest centuries to present day. Narrow streets, religious and secular architecture, houses with wooden multi-coloured balconies, churches, synagogues, mosques,the impressive Narikala Castle and more, all in the heart of the old city. Overnight in a 4 star hotel. (D).

OCTOBER 22, TBILISI:

We will make an early start to photograph the historical houses from Soviet era and narrow streets of the old city. Highlights include the colourful frescos of the Sioni Church built in the 7th century to the impressive Sameba Cathedral, known also as "Church of Trinity", which is the third tallest Eastern Orthodox Church. OCTOBER 23, KUTAISI:

Today we head to Kutaisi, the 2nd largest city in Georgia, which is located in the Cholchis region and according to Greek Mythology, was the final destination of the Argonauts looking for the Golden Fleece. Along the way, we will stop at Jvari to photograph the confluence of 2 rivers, Aragvi and Kura, that form an interesting and photogenic shape with the old city of Mtskheta in the background. After driving by Gori, birthplace of Stalin, we will stop at Uplistsikhe, "God's castle", a monastic cave settlement that has been carved into rock formations such as Katskhi Pillar a 40m high natural monolith with a church on the top. We will arrive at Kutaisi in time to photograph the 11th century Bagrati Cathedral at the Blue Hour. Overnight in a 3 star  superior hotel. (B, L, D)

OCTOBER 24, MESTIA:

We will drive to Mestia, located up in the famous Caucasus Mountains. On the way, we’ll pass beautiful autumnal landscape, canyons, snow-capped mountains and unique "tower villages" that look like castles which were built 800 years ago, for defensive purposes. Our hotel in Mestia is a mountain lodge with a great view. (B, L, D)

OCTOBER 25, MESTIA:

We’ll travel in 4-wheel drive vehicles through the Caucasus mountains which will offer breathtaking views of Mt. Ushba  (5000m) and onto Ushguli, a group of villages with towers, located at an altitude of over 2300m, which lay at the foot of the impressive Mt Skhara.(B,L,D)

OCTOBER 26, BATUMI:

Today, we travel through the Caucasus mountains along the Black Sea coast to the city of Batumi, making regular stops to photograph the coast and landscape. Overnight in a 5 star hotel. (B, L, D)

OCTOBER 27, KAZBEKI:

We continue our journey to the Kazbeki area, the location of one of the highest peaks in the Caucasus Mountains with an elevation of 5200m. The mountain scenery is stunning.  On the way, we will stop at the Ananuri Fortress Church. Overnight in a 3 star superior hotel. (B, L, D)

OCTOBER 28, TBILISI:

We return to Tbilisi and in the late afternoon, we will photograph a monument  known as “Stonehenge Of Georgia”. Overnight in a 4 star hotel (B, L, D)

OCTOBER 29, DEPARTURE: Transfer to the airport OR continue to Armenia. (B)

*This tour is designed to run in conjunction with the Armenia Tour. Both tours are co-led by Mehmet and Tim who joined us in 2022 to run the outstanding Silk Road tour. It was so good that we've decided to run another trip together! Mehmet is from Turkey and has run over 10 tours in Georgia and Armenia and is a real expert on the region. The photos used on this page are his. It will be a truly memorable trip!
