This week long itinerary takes us through the regions of Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country (Euskadi) of North Spain.
We start our journey in the Basque country where we photograph the extraordinary island of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe which featured in the Game of Thrones. We'll visit this magical place at sunset and at sunrise. Our hotel is located right next to a beach with easy access to the island and a beautiful beach which is a mecca for surfers. Our other location is Barrika beach, home to interesting rocky formations which make for interesting compostions. A great opportunity for some long exposure photography.

After a couple of days exploring the coast north of Bilbao, we will travel to Asturias and the colourful village of Cudillero. This picturesque fishing village is the perfect base to explore numerous locations along the coast. Cathedral beach, Gueirua beach, Portizuelo beach and the Playa de Silencio will be the main highlights. Dramatic cliffs, white sandy beaches and sea stacks shaped by the powerful waves of the Bay of Biscay offer endless possibilities for photographers. If time allows, we'll also visit the colourful fishing villages of LLanes and Lastres.

We now head to Cantabria where we will stay in a wonderful 5* palace in the heart of medieval Santillana del Mar. The village has been beautifully restored and is a popular stopover for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. At sunrise, we'll have the place to ourselves so we can photograph the medieval towers and renaissance palaces in peace. The perfect way to start the day! A short distance away is the pretty seaside town of San Vicente de la Barquera and the architectural masterpiece known as Comillas.

Our final destination is Bilbao where we'll explore the old town and then photograph the Guggenheim museum in late afternoon light though to the blue hour.
